V.N. de Milfontes / SW Portugal. Where the estuary of the Rio Mira so magnificently meets the Atlantic Ocean, there we are already 25 years with 2 unique holiday resorts. No wonder that we settled in Milfontes with her beautiful sandy beaches, 3000 sun hours and lowest rainfall per year. Here we very seldom suffer from extreme high or low temperatures. When the temperature goes up above land, a fresh breeze from the seawater brings us coolness, which is envied to people behind the hills and further away and in Spain who have to endure temperatures of 30 or 40 degrees C. Duna Parque: Situated immediately behind wide dunes and sandy beaches at walking distance from other beaches, and shops. The accommodation offered is in renovated design apartments for 2 to 5 pax and villas accommodating 4 to 6 pax. The maximal capacity is 165 persons of several nationalities, which makes this park together with many facilities, the service and a restaurant with a good kitchen to a happy place to stay Moinho da Asneira / Pousada de Milfontes: By water only two km away from the ocean situated in a natural reserve. The bungalows and villas for 2 to 10 pax have been built against the hills, protected from northern and western winds with terraces facing south and view over the wide estuary with its everlasting spectacle of low and high tides in front of you. Here the temperature rises seldom beyond 28 degrees C. and makes it possible to enjoy your lunch on more than 300 days per year on your own terrace. Here we live still with open doors, because the only entrance is over long dam between our lagoon and the estuary of the Rio Mira. The maximal capacity is only for 45 pax. The relaxed atmosphere of peace and beauty makes this resort worth to be made into a hideaway in Europe at an acceptable price. Suitable for those who want to avoid the crowd and value what one finds here and what we do not have. Milfontes is not yet ready for tourism before and after June/September, but the mild climate, the accommodations are there all around the year. For those with eyes it is wonderful to see how nature reacts on the first rain after a long dry period. We support a program “ Holidays during offseason at the coast of Alentejo. On request we organize excursions in Portugal or to the Spanish towns of Toledo, Cordoba, Granada and Sevilla. Or with our boat on the “Rio Mira” with a barbecue halfway for 20 pax. We invite groups of Bridgers, tennis or other sporters. We are service minds flexible people who welcome those who want to organize a workshop for painters, photographers, cooking, fitness or other activities. Please do not hesitate to contact us with suggestions. For those who wish to stay a longer period during offseason we have special prices and if you like your children to visit you we might give you a reduction or a bigger house. During the period 16 Dec to January 5th there are additional charges for a traditional Portuguese dinner, a classic 5 course dinner on Christmas day and warm and cold buffets to enter the New Year in style. |
